Too proud of my wedding paper goods to not give it a separate blog post.
I created our monogram crest based off of details I pulled from our wedding dinner table. I love all things bamboo, so it was a no brainer picking the Juliska bamboo dinnerware from the plate options our rental company Cheers! had. Pulling from the bamboo plate edge and custom monogram napkins I had made, our monogram crest was born. Traditionally you wouldn’t use a couples monogram on an invitation but since a) the round invitation was anything but traditional and b) we chose to pay for our wedding, we used it anyway. I also created a secondary crest using the same bamboo oval but featuring a palm tree.
Since our invitation was for a long weekend (Wednesday-Sunday) of wedding activities in Kiawah Island, I created a gate-fold pocket to wrap around the invitation so that additional details could be listed inside. The gate-fold featured a sketch of The Ocean Course Clubhouse and palm-trees that was then used on other paper items throughout the weekend.
Despite only inviting 10 adults other than ourselves, I didn’t want to skimp on fun paper pieces like a reply card given the scrumptious menu options available.
For the rehearsal dinner table, my mother-in-law collected oyster shells and made a beautiful centerpiece with them. She had some extras so had my father-in-law drill small holes in them for making Christmas ornaments. I painted them white and used gold calligraphy ink to write out our names + wedding date, completing them with a glued on pearl. They were a labor of time and love on all of our parts, but loved the way they turned out. I know ours will have a front & center spot on the Christmas tree this year.
We were so grateful that our family members traveled to join us for the week so wanted to have a surprise with some personal touches waiting for them upon arrival. For starters, a screen printed bag was necessary to hold everything. We ordered local specialties like Benne Wafers and Low-Country Kettle chips for late night snacking, plus made “To Have and To Hold” remedy kits complete with Advil, Noom electrolytes and Tums. Given our beach location, a towel was a no-brainer and a custom monogram made them a great wedding souvenir. As a surprise to Taylor, I had the Grateful Dead bear koozies made since the band is very much apart of our everyday lives!
No paper suite is complete without table details. Calligraphy place-cards and a menu featuring each of our guests dinner choices was put next to their place setting.
